CPT Tyler FitzGerald graduated from the Alaska Pacific
University with a Bachelor’s degree in Outdoor Studies. After completion of OCS in January 2009, he
commissioned as an Infantry Officer.
Tyler continued his military training by completing the year long
British commissioning course at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
CPT FitzGerald’s first assignment was to 2nd BN, 508th
PIR, 4th BDE, 82nd Airborne Division, where he served as a platoon leader from
January to October 2011. He served as
the 2-508 S1 during the unit’s deployment in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom from January to September 2012.
After redeployment, Tyler assumed duties as the Executive Officer for
the Heavy Weapons Company in 2-508 until May 2013.
Upon completion of the Maneuver Captains Career Course,
he was assigned to 2nd BDE, 25th ID where he served as an Assistant Operations
Officer and the Brigade S1. CPT FitzGerald commanded B Co, 1-21 IN from 12
September 2014 to 23 September 2015 and HHC, 1-21 IN from 19 November 2015 to
08 September 2016. CPT FitzGerald served as the One Legion CUOPS from
October 2016 to March 2017.
CPT FitzGerald’s military education includes Ranger
School, Airborne School, and Combatives I and II.
CPT FitzGerald awards and decorations include the Bronze
Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, the Afghanistan
Campaign medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and Expert Infantryman’s Badge.
