CPT Scott Harra received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at Shippensburg University in May of 2007. Upon completion of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, CPT Harra was assigned to 2-8 Cavalry, 1st Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division, where he served as a Mechanized Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, deploying in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from January 2009 to February 2010. CPT Harra attended the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course in 2011 at Fort Benning, GA. Upon graduation, he was assigned to 1-187 Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (AASLT), where he served as an Assistant Operations Officer and deployed to Paktia Province in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from September 2012 to June 2013. In March of 2013, CPT Harra assumed command of Charlie Company, 1-187 Infantry.
CPT Harra’s awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Iraq Campaign Medal (1 campaign star), Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge and Air Assault Badge.
