CPT David Hunter

 

CPT David Hunter hails from Norwood, MA and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Westfield State College. He commissioned as Infantry Officer in May 2008. Upon completion of Ranger School, CPT Hunter reported to 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment at Fort Drum, NY.

CPT Hunter first served as a Heavy Weapons Platoon Leader in 2nd Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, and deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in support of OIF 09-10.  His next assignment was as a Rifle Platoon Leader for 2-14 IN’s Bravo Company from December of 2010 to July 2011.  His final assignment in 2-14 IN was as the Executive Officer for HHC 2-14 IN. Next he PCS’ed to Fort Benning, GA, to attend the Maneuver Captains Career Course in May 2012.  After graduating the Maneuver Captains Career Course he attended the Bradley Leader Course. CPT Hunter then PCS’d to Fort Hood, TX where he deployed as the 4th BCT, 1 CD Battle Captain in support of OEF 12-13.  His final assignment prior to coming to The Old Guard was the Company Commander of Copperhead Company 1-9 CAV out of Fort Hood, TX.   

CPT Hunter is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Ranger School, Airborne School, Combatives Level Two, and the Bradley Leader Course. His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Achievement Medal, the Afghan Campaign Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the NATO Medal. He has earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Ranger Tab.
