CPT Jason Griffin


Cpt Griffin 8x10CPT Jason Griffin was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Medical Service Corps from Virginia State University (DMG) on 14 May, 2011.  He attended AMEDD Basic Officer Course at Fort Sam Houston, TX before being assigned to Fort Hood, TX.

CPT Griffin served as a Treatment Platoon Leader with the 115th Brigade Support Battalion with 1st BCT, 1st CAV DIV, Fort Hood, TX While there, he deployed during Operation New Dawn in 2011 to 2012.  CPT Griffin was then assigned to the 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment “Garryowen” where he served as the Squadron Medical Officer from 2012 to 2013 and Executive Officer for Delta Company, Forward Support Troop, 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment.  CPT Griffin was then assigned to the Office of The Surgeon General in Falls Church, VA where he served as a Special Assistant to the Chief of the Medical Service Corps from 2014 to 2015. 

His schools include the Basic Officer Leaders Course, Captains Career Course, Combatives Levels I & II, Fundamentals of Systems and Acquisition Management, Medical Logistics Officer Course, Army Basic Instructor Course, Basic Healthcare Administration Course, Tactics Certification Course, Medical Plans, Operations, Training and Security Course, Ranger School, Airborne School, Air Assault School and Pathfinder School.

CPT Griffin’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (8 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (8 OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation (MUC), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 service stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Identification Badge and Canadian Jump Wings.  His other deployment include Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004 to 2005, AL Hawijah Iraq with 1st BCT, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, KY
