1SG Jason R. Taylor


1SGT Taylor-1First Sergeant Jason R. Taylor enlisted in the Texas National Guard under the split option training program and attended Basic Training at Fort Benning, GA from June to August 2001. He completed his training as an Indirect Fire Infantryman during the summer of 2002. He later transitioned to active duty on January 13, 2003 as an 11B Infantryman.

From January 2003 to November 2005 he was assigned to 1-9 Cav Fort Hood Texas where he served as an indirect fire Infantryman in HHC and a dismount infantryman in B Co 1-9 Cav. He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from September 2003 to September 2004. Upon redeployment B Co 1-9 Cav was reflagged as A Co 3-8 Cav where he served as a Team leader until he was reassigned to Fort Drum, NY. While assigned to the 10th MTN DIV 1SG Taylor held various duty positions. His 1st assignment was D Co 2-87 IN were held the duty position of Anti-Armor Squad Leader deploying to OEF from February 2006 to May 2007. After redeployment he held the duty position of anti-armor section leader before being reassign to F Co Pathfinders 2-10 AVN. While assign to F Co 2-10 from April 2008 to May 2012 he held the duty positions of Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant, deploying once in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

In May of 2012, Taylor was assigned to B Co, 4th Ranger Training Battalion at Fort Benning GA, were he served as a Ranger Instructor. After his tour as a Ranger Instructor was complete he reported to the 3d US Infantry Regiment “The Old Guard.” While assigned to The Old Guard he has served as a Platoon Sergeant for D Co 1-3 IN and is currently serving as the A Co (CINC Guard) First Sergeant. 1SG Taylor’s military education includes Sling Load Inspectors Course, Anti-armor Leaders Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Airborne School, Jumpmaster School, Basic Instructor Course, Tactics Certification Course, Joint Fire Power Controller Course, Warrior Leaders Course, Advance Leaders Course, Maneuver Senior Leader Course and the US Army Ranger School.

1SG Taylor’s military awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (5 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (4 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal ( 4th Award), National Defensive Service Medal,  Afghanistan Campaign Medal (3 Campaign Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal (2 Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 4), NATO Medal, Ranger Tab, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutist Badge and Drives Badge. 1SG Taylor is also a member of the Distinguished Sergeant Audie Murphy Club.
