1SG Matthew R. Craig Sr.



1SG Matthew R. Craig Sr. is a native of Elberfeld, Indiana. He joined the Army in May of 2001 and attended OSUT training as an Infantryman at Fort Benning, Georgia.


His previous assignments include: Machine Gunner, Saw Gunner, Rifleman, RTO, escort member and colors NCO 3rd US INF (TOG), Fort Myer, Virginia; US Army Recruiter, Warwick, Rhode Island and On Production Station Commander, Narragansett, Rhode Island; Squad Leader, HHC, 4th Special Troops Battalion, Fort Bliss Texas; Operations SGM HHC 4th Special Troops Battalion Fort Bliss, Texas; 1SG, B Co (SIGCO) 4th Special Troops Battalion Fort Bliss, Texas; Platoon Sergeant and 1SG, B Co, 4th Battalion 6th Infantry Regiment Fort Bliss, Texas; Platoon Sergeant D Co 1-77 AR, Fort Bliss Texas and Platoon Sergeant, D Co, 1st Battalion 3rd Infantry Regiment (TOG), Fort Myer, Virginia and 1SG, B Co, 1st Battalion 3rd Infantry Regiment (TOG), Fort Myer, Virginia.


1SG Craig’s military education includes: BLC, ALC, SLC, 1SG / Commander’s Course, Ranger Course, Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, NBC Defense Course, Combat Lifesaver’s Course and is one semester hour short of his associate’s degree in marketing.

1SG Craig’s operational history include deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn.


1SG Craig is married and has 4 children. 1SG Craig hobbies include reading military history, working out, and watching Indiana Hoosiers Basketball.
